What is Lipedema?

Lipedema is a chronic condition characterized by an abnormal accumulation of fat, primarily in the lower parts of the body, such as the hips, thighs, and legs (sometimes arms) . It typically affects women and often begins or worsens during puberty, pregnancy, or menopause due to hormonal changes. Unlike general weight gain, the fat in Lipedema is usually symmetrical, and it doesn't respond well to diet or exercise. Lipedema fat cells can cause pain and small hard nodules under the

surface of the skin which can look like cellulite but is not.
